Important Considerations When Choosing an Italian Language Course in Florence

Back to Homepage

Students' needs should be put 1st

Language courses can represent a substantial financial investment, so you need to make sure you will receive some good quality, well targeted teaching in exchange.

Different schools will suit different people better. Whilst we favour small class sizes because we believe it allows for more focused teaching and faster learning, some students will enjoy the social aspect of a larger class and the extra-curricular activities that can be organised by schools with a large number of students.

When choosing an Italian language school, the best thing to do is to make a list of what is most important for you, and then to check whether the school can provide this. For example:
* If learning the language fast is your highest priority, or if you have special requirements, you should be looking for a maximum of 6 students per class or individual lessons to get the most out of the course.
* If you are on holiday and just want a relaxed time, maybe a small class size is not so important - but you could look at whether the school organises social outings, cultural events, dinners, internet access etc..
* If you find it difficult to organise your stay in Florence, ensure that the school can help you with issues such as accommodation & travel plans.

Although rates vary from school to school, in Florence you could expect to pay about €10/hour (although "hours" usually last 50 minutes in most schools) for a group course and €35 for a 50-minute individual class class. Compare this to Our Rates!
